Currently, we are in production on a three year project documenting the Eastern coyote at Presque Isle State Park. Together with Edinboro University of Pennsylvania's Biology Department, Presque Isle DCNR, and our expertise, we have re-vamped 10-year old research of trapping and radio-collaring coyotes. But this time, we have collared resident animals. This film is slated to screen in the Big Green Screen Theatre upon it's completion in 2012. Our new documentary will have accompanying educational curricula for area schools based on the Pennsylvania Science Education Standards and Assessments.
The upcoming documentary will focus on continuing research of coyotes at the park. What will we learn about the coyote's habits? Do they leave the park? Where are the den sites? Is there more than one family group, or pack, at Presque Isle? When are they active? The questions are endless as there have not been very many studies on the Eastern coyote.
This film takes us into the most intimate moments of science: the difficulty and disappointment of a long and hard trapping season, animal handling in the freezing cold and in the dead of night, and the joy of finding coyote pups.
Join us on our journey to understand more about this elusive wild Canid. Through Presque Isle's unique habitats and amazing diversity comes a portrait of survival in all seasons.
